Skeletons in the Closet

Citizens of Iraq should be patient with the new interim Iraq government. It takes time to firmly establish a fair democratic system of due process.

Skeletons in the Closet

A horrible abuse of power has been discovered in Iraq. The warehouse filled with stacks of coffins containing dead bodies of Islamic opposition leaders of Saddam Hussein's brutal regime demonstrates a horrible abuse of power.

Democracy is a system of government that provides checks and balances to prevent abuse of power. Prevention of abuse of power entails implementation of a system of government allowing for removal of the highest presiding powers in office. A democratic government providing for an ordered due process of removal of the highest presiding powers in office limits the term of high-ranking government officials to two consecutive four-year terms or eight years.

In an article published in The Courier Journal written by Associated Press writer Robert Burns, Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld is quoted as saying, "If you suggesting, how would we feel about an Iranian type government with a few clerics running everything in the country the answer is, that isn't going to happen".

In a true democracy, the majority of voting citizens can elect a religious leader to a four- year term in office, if the majority of voting citizens want too, and there is not much Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld or anyone else can do about it. Iraq minority groups representing moderate and liberal views should have the freedom to make their voice heard without fear of persecution.

The interim government of Iraq has an awesome responsibility. The interim government of Iraq is responsible to insure true democracy is firmly established in Iraq. The job of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and other Bush Administration officials depends upon establishing true democracy in Iraq.

Citizens of Iraq should be patient with the new interim Iraq government. It takes time to firmly establish a fair democratic system of due process. A democratic system of due process can potentially make leaders accountable to the Iraqi people.

Due to the fact that Nations who participated in military intervention within Iraq paid billions of dollars to liberate Iraq, coalition forces have a right to stay in Iraq for as long as necessary to firmly establish a fair democratic system of government in Iraq. The Bush Administration should make good on its promise that profits from the sale of Iraqi oil should be dedicated to improving the lives of Iraqi citizens.

A democratic system of due process must be firmly established to prevent a "religious leader" from circumventing democracy in Iraq by resorting to murder and torture as brutal violent repressive methods to control the masses.

A land with harsh rugged terrain can produce heavy-handed individuals physically wired and enervated to skip a few steps in the democratic system of due process and rule with an iron fist. The harsh terrain of Iraq can transform men into rugged harsh callous individuals who may be quick to circumvent democracy and resort to brutal oppressive control techniques. The temptation to skip a few steps in the democratic system of due process is great.

The freedom to assemble is one basic human right allowing minorities the basic human dignity of making their voice heard in government without fear of retaliation. The entire world rejoiced and celebrated in Spirit with the massive gathering of Shiite Muslims who marched in a peaceful religious ceremony to their Holy city of Kabul. The peaceful religious ceremony of the Shiite Muslims should be recorded for posterity in the history books as a triumph of the human spirit.

Democracy is a system of government that facilitates a peaceful non-violent Jihad. Democracy facilitates a peaceful non-violent Jihad by providing checks and balances as well as procedures for an ordered system of due process. Islam will garner much more international public support if Islam takes a strong stand against terrorist violence and embrace a peaceful non-violent Jihad, in the context of democracy, as the method to protect fundamentalist values of the Islamic religion.
